Charlie Savage, a midfielder for Manchester United, is expected to depart the team and sign with Reading of League One.
Savage, who led Man United in their first preseason game against Leeds, will now depart the organization permanently.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United have included a sizeable sell-on fee in the agreement and would retain the right to match any future offers made for the 20-year-old, as they did with earlier this summer’s sales of Ethan Laird and Zidane Iqbal.
The choice to trade Savage was made in the player’s best interests because he desired a long-term move to advance his career.
Due to the advancement of other academy players in comparable positions who are already frequently training with the first-team, his path to the first team has grown more difficult.
In December 2021, he made his Man United debut against Young Boys in the Champions League.
