2023 WWC: Australia will be difficult to beat — Falcons coach, Waldrum

Randy Waldrum, the head coach of the Super Falcons, has cautioned his team that they must play at their highest level against Australia.

On Thursday, July 27, the former African champions will play the co-hosts of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The tournament for Waldrum’s team got off to a stunning 0-0 draw against Canada.

Australia, on the other hand, struggled to a 1-0 victory over Republic of Ireland, who were making their debut.

Sam Kerr, the Matildas’ talismanic captain, won’t be playing.

Kerr, a Chelsea player, had a calf injury in practice and was unable to participate in the victory over Ireland.

The Australians, according to Waldrum, are a dangerous opponent, and the Super Falcons cannot afford to underestimate them.

The American remarked, “I watched their performance against Ireland; they’re dangerous with so many different weapons.”

“Just because they don’t have a star player doesn’t mean we can walk into the game believing the game is already won. Our athletes are aware of that.
