AGN suspends actor Jerry Williams over drug abuse
Jerry Williams has been placed on indefinite leave by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) due to his use of illegal substances.
Williams’ “involvement in illicit substances since December last year, until it got out of hand,” according to AGN National President Emeka Rollas, was monitored “until it got out of hand.”
Williams should have been suspended earlier, the Guild, he claimed, but instead they “decided to allow him to go through minor treatments, which he has been defaulting overtimes.”
The decision to suspend him, according to Rollas, came after AGN determined that he “is a risk not only to himself but also, other actors who might be acting alongside him on set.”
Williams will continue to be suspended, according to the president, “until he receives a clean bill of health from a physician or a professional who handles drug abuse.”
