Following their preseason friendly last week, Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, discussed some specifics with Lisandro Martinez, a defender for Manchester United.
Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes both scored in the first half to help the Red Devils to a 2-0 victory.
The robustness of Martinez’s performance, which culminated in one particularly overzealous challenge on Bukayo Saka, infuriated Arsenal fans.
Arteta claims that the talk he had with Martinez following the game had nothing to do with the defender’s careless challenge on Saka.
“I was simply pleased to see him there. He’s a somebody I know. It’s all about the sport, and I was glad to see him back after the injury.
“It’s about the people we know, and that’s all there is to it. We just wished each other luck for the season.” For us, it was a pretty exciting game of competition, Arteta remarked.
