The current rave, Asake, was once a dancer for Nigerian singer Abbey Toyyib Elias, alias Skiibii, before his musical career took off.
He claimed that the singer of “Amapiano” used to live with him and travel with him to concerts when he was just starting out in his career.
On the most recent episode of the Afrobeats podcast, which is hosted by British-Nigerian media personality Shopsydoo, Skiibii made this disclosure as a guest.
Unbeknownst to many, the “Bhaddest Boy” singer claimed that Asake is an excellent dancer and added that he performed in plays while attending Obafemi Awolowo University in Ife, Osun State.
“Asake just blew up now, he just entered the star mode,” he remarked, recalling a conversation he had the day before.
Asake used to accompany me to performances. Asake used to stay with me, go to shows with me, and do other things. This guy just entered when he blew like that. Una never see anything, I said, according to the Asake wey me I knew.
Asake attended Ife’s Obafemi Awolowo University. He’s a dancer. If I show you footage from my phone from that year, you’ll see that Asake can dance when he’s on stage. The moment I dropped “Sensima,” he followed me around.
