Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, better known by his stage as Iyanya, believes he should share a platform alongside afrobeats legends Wizkid, Davido, and Olamide.
When a fan tweeted, “When we mention the Old cats like Olamide, Davido, and Wizkid, Iyanya should be mentioned too,” the singer of “Kukere” agreed.
He released two successful songs in 2011, “Kukere” and “Your Waist,” and he has continued to release music ever since.
Iyanya quickly responded back, saying, “Well.”
The former Project Fame winner stated prominence was no accident, highlighting the fact that his songs received widespread acclaim at a time when the internet wasn’t yet widely used, in response to another admirer who expressed a similar feeling.
“Shout out to @Iyanya,” the user wrote. He actually made the world aware of Afrobeats. Globally, Kukere was a tremendous song! As large as skelewu, but the impact cannot be diminished by even lighthearted discussion (please correct me if I’m wrong).
They don’t know, Iyanya retorted.
“There was no internet usage, yet our music were played everywhere.
“They can react to my tweet based on the knowledge they have.
“Let’s count Hits for Hits and tell me how many go fit match,” he boasted.
