Controversial Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, better known by his stage name Nedu, is an actor and media figure from Nigeria. He has discussed how rumors that he is a misogynist cost him a multimillion-naira sponsorship agreement.
On the most recent edition of the audiovisual podcast The Honest Bunch, which he, Husband Material, and Deity Cole co-host, the comic made this revelation.
“I almost signed an endorsement three weeks ago, but I lost it,” he said. I’m not in a foul mood. For a little moment, I didn’t feel horrible, but I snapped.
Why did I freak out? Because the myth that Nedu despises women was widely accepted. And it is a brand of beverages. If this is what people are saying, then our female consumer won’t like it, the company declared.
Nedu criticized what he called the “double standard” of individuals who criticized him for adoring women excessively in his skits but then said he promoted hatred of women on his podcast.
