Kano police commissioner assumes duty, adopts technology

As of this past Tuesday, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, the recently appointed Kano State Commissioner of Police, began serving in that capacity.

This was said in a statement given to newsmen by DSP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Public Relations Officer for the Kano State police command.

CP Gumel has held a variety of positions and is a prominent figure in the intelligence world.

He was transferred from Sokoto to Kano state, where he also worked as the state’s commissioner of police for the recently completed supplemental elections.

He pledged to employ intelligence assets to obtain solid proof and implement the appropriate technology in the battle against all types of criminal activity across the state.

He vowed to make sure that the policemen and men under the command received a sufficient and consistent welfare package and asked them to act professionally when policing the state.

“I will be ready to accept the responsibility of addressing all the real and emerging challenges and working with the communities in providing the needed remedies to all the shortcomings that would keep coming,” he stated.

In our efforts to offer security to the citizens of Kano State, we shall cooperate with other sister security agencies in the state.

Additionally, he pledged to uphold basic freedoms and human rights while implementing a people-friendly policing strategy.
