Zainab Balogun, a well-known Nollywood actress, has discussed why she keeps her personal life secret.
The British-Nigerian actress said it might be difficult if one’s personal life is made public in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.
“I’m extremely mindful of the divide of power between the business and myself, and when you dabble into all of this without being conscious of what the repercussions are, it is pretty difficult,” she added. “It was an intentional choice.
My private life is quite private. It is not available for general consumption. That is my life, not my line of work.
“There are those people who have no problem bragging about how much money they spent on the AMVCAs attire they donned. There isn’t much truth in that, so I wouldn’t be that person. I have to be aware of my audience and the individuals I’m pacing. It is a deception that is unnecessary.
“So, I’m fine with giving you that which I’m fine with you criticizing or having an opinion on, but I’m quite traditional, so my private life is not for public consumption or the opinions of others,” the speaker said.
