2023 WWC: Nigeria Super Falcons beat Australia to top Group B
At the Suncorp Stadium on Thursday, Nigeria’s Super Falcons defeated Australia 3-2 in a match for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Uchenna Kanu scored an equalizer for Nigeria just before halftime after Emily van Egmond had scored for Australia in the opening period.
Osinachi Ohale and Asisat Oshoala both scored goals for Nigeria in the second half, while Alanna Kennedy netted a late consolation for Australia.
With four points from two games, Randy Waldrum’s team presently leads Group B.
Canada is in second place, and Australia is in third place, after Nigeria. With no points, the Republic of Ireland is in fourth place.
The Super Eagles’ last group match will now take place against Ireland on Monday.
