Balogun eager for Super Eagles action

Leon Balogun is eager to play for Nigeria once more at the international level.

Due to an injury, the 35-year-old was unable to participate in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which saw the Super Eagles lose in the round of 16.

Injury has limited Balogun’s participation for the West Africans in the AFCON qualifiers for 2023.

In June, Queens Park Rangers, a club in the Sky Bet Championship, released the seasoned center-back.

But last month, Balogun unexpectedly returned to Scottish Premiership powerhouse Rangers.

Balogun has said he has loved playing regular football since moving to the Ibrox Stadium and that he would like to return to the Super Eagles.

“That’s ideal; my goal is to join the upcoming squad. I have been away for a while, so it would surely be wonderful,” he told Rangers TV.

“It goes without saying that I am anticipating being called up. Even though it might be crazy, I missed playing international football with Nigeria and seeing a lot of familiar faces.
