Gov Fubara promises to prioritise civil servants welfare
Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has promised the state’s government personnel that his administration will put their welfare first.
During his visit to the Rivers State Secretariat complex in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara provided the guarantee.
According to him, the objective of his visit was to inspect the facilities at the secretariat in person and to address the issues that were preventing personnel from being more productive.
Fubara acknowledged that the secretariat lacked adequate security and water supply.
He pointed out that the state government had previously spent a lot of money on the secretariat’s water supply, but there was no rationale for the expenditures.
The governor also demanded a probe into how the money distributed were used.
In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Boniface Onyedi, Fubara urged civil officials to carry out their responsibilities with commitment and attention since laziness and carelessness will not be tolerated.
Initiating a meeting with the Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries in the Executive Council Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt, the Governor was given the task of restructuring the state civil service for increased efficiency before conducting an evaluation of the state secretariat.
