I declined to make beats for Kizz Daniel after he offered me N50k – Producer Philkeys
Philip Ahaiwe Chukwuja, well known as Philkeys, a legendary music producer, has recalled a time when he turned down Kizz Daniel after the singer offered to pay him N50,000 for a studio session.
He said that when he extended the deal, Kizz Daniel was only starting out and turned it down since he was already collaborating with King Sunny Ade, a famed artist.
However, Philkeys said that once the ‘Woju’ crooner achieved fame, he subsequently teamed up with Kizz Daniel and recorded many songs with him.
In a recent interview with MTV Base Africa, Philkeys made this claim.
“He [Kizz Daniel] reached out to me,” he claimed. He was not then signed. He informed me that he wanted to work with me and had a particular sum of money—I believe N50,000.
“However, my fees didn’t exceed N50,000 by the time I started working for Sunny Ade. I was a big lad then. ‘No, o, I’m not doing,’ I said.
We simply let that bit slip since I was going to see if he would call me back, but he didn’t. Then, once he lost everything, he phoned me and said he wanted to collaborate with me.
