I feel good – Davido relishes performance at BET Awards
At the 23rd BET Awards on Sunday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, Nigerian afrobeats musician David Adeleke, nicknamed Davido, electrified the crowd with a thrilling performance.
The OBO singer gave a medley performance of his popular songs “Feel” and “Unavailable” off his most recent album, “Timeless.”
The audience began to bounce and stream during his dazzling performance.
After Fireboy DML, who performed at “Culture’s Biggest Night” the previous year while riding the “Peru” wave, he became the second Nigerian musician to perform there as a result of his performance.
Earlier, Davido spoke on the phenomenal growth of afrobeats in the USA in a side interview with Neena Rouhani of Billboard.
I feel good about performing tonight, he declared. It must be enormous. I’m thrilled to be performing at the [BET] Awards for the first time; it should be spectacular.
“I recall the time I spent as an African living in Atlanta and Alabama for a while. My American friends used to appreciate the [African] music I played for them and shared with them. I therefore always knew that the afrobeats boom will occur someday if we had the chance to be noticed.
“Shoutout to all the afrobeats musicians who are also crushing it. Everyone is working hard, traveling here to perform on tours, and promoting afrobeats.
