I lost my dad favour when I became actress against his wishes – Jennifer Eliogu
According to Nollywood actress Jennifer Eliogu, she lost her father’s approval when she decided to pursue acting despite his advice.
She said that she did not struggle to become an actor and that she fell into the field by accident in 1997 while pursuing her education.
This was said by the actor during a recent conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo.
“I didn’t come out looking for movies; I just happened upon the [movie industry],” she claimed.
My pal Princess Babiana… Growing up, my dad was an extremely strict man. Since we don’t get outside very often, we had a playground indoors. He dislikes having guests over. Therefore, we only go out when he is away.
He prefers that we are acquainted with people whose parents he is familiar with so that he is assured that we would feel at ease there. As a result, my dad and her dad were close. She also paid us a visit while on her way to [movie] rehearsals. I therefore thought, “Okay, I can go because it’s her and my dad was out of town.” I then went after her.
She remarked, “He was challenging. He was unwilling to even hear it. In UniJos, I was already pursuing a diploma. Dad has always wished for me to become a lawyer. He thought I would make a great attorney. My mother was the one who was affected, and it led to a lot of issues. Is this what you really want to do, he kept asking. You won’t be able to forgive yourself if something goes wrong. “I’m sure this is what I really want to do,” I thought.
It took a very long time, the actor continued. I ceased to be his girl. And guess what? I quit attending classes. He said, “I’m not going to cover your tuition.”
