Mercy Chinwo now charges N10m to perform in churches – Rev. Fr. Oluoma slams gospel singers [Video]

According to Rev. Fr. Chinenye Oluoma, a Catholic priest in the Abuja Archdiocese, the well-known gospel singer Mercy Chinwo now demands N10 million to sing in churches.

He stated this while criticizing how expensive religious worship has gotten.

Father Oluoma criticized gospel artists who demand high fees to perform in a place of worship in a now-trending video on social media.

The cleric used Mercy Chinwo as an illustration and maintained in a popular video that the singer demands N10m to play in churches.

“We have raised the cost of religious observance. How much will I pay Mercy Chinwo if I have to bring her here to perform? A gospel performer of Mercy Chinwo’s stature currently charges N10m to perform at an event or at a church.

“This is the tragedy that we have transformed Christianity into: an artist will visit a church and conduct praise and worship for N10 million and N5 million in ten minutes. Therefore, if that specific performer doesn’t sing “Jesus you love me too much,” would it imply that God didn’t love you excessively?

“And some people questioned whether they ought to be paid. Why did you fail to pay them? Because you are bringing them for amusement, you must pay them if you must bring them. Worship has been transformed into entertainment.

“We mimicked the rest of the world. Nobody even knows the people from back then who wrote the tunes we still use for worship today,” he remarked.
