Morden-day Nollywood actors are fake – Wale Ojo
Wales Ojo, a seasoned Nollywood performer, claims that contemporary actors prioritize “fake acting” over authenticity.
He believed that contemporary Nollywood actors put “fake acting” ahead of the authenticity that distinguished elder actors.
This was said by the British-Nigerian actor during a recent Hip TV interview.
According to Wale Ojo, “Those were the stories that used to fascinate me when I used to watch the old Nollywood. Rita Dominic, Pete Edochie, Omotola Jalade, and Genevieve Nnaji have all starred in films by Ramsey Noah. The tales were excellent. Great acting was done.
“I know that things have changed, but perhaps in this era of artificial intelligence, modern performers have adopted more artificial acting than the authenticity that was there in old Nollywood—and which, by the way, is more prevalent in Yoruba films.
“I recall watching Papilolo, Hubert Ogundes, Jide Kosoko, and Baba Suwe. At the time, these veterans were true warriors.
Things must change because they have changed. Some changes have been for the better while others have been for the worse. And I can appreciate the desire to return to the earlier days of Nollywood.
