Planned return of Emir Sanusi fake news – Kano Assembly Majority Leader
The State Emirate Council Law has reportedly been amended in an effort to reinstate deposed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, which the Kano State House of Assembly has decried as fabricated fake news.
The ousted Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II would thereafter have complete authority as the Emir of Kano, according to the Assembly, which also dismissed as malicious conjecture claims that they would overthrow the five New Emirs of Gaya, Bichi, Rano, and Karaye.
The Kano Emirates Amendment bill 2023, which will be read by the majority leader and member representing Dala constituency, Lawan Hussaini, was widely reported in social media on Wednesday. The Assembly is expected to address the topic of the emirates on Thursday, June 15, 2023.
According to reports, the intention was for the house to debate the matter and accept the amendment, with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s approval, which will subsequently permit the removal of the emirs and the reinstatement of Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano.
After the House’s plenary session on Wednesday, the majority leader, Lawan Hussaini, spoke to the media and labeled the report as fake news.
Hussaini said that because the matter was never addressed, there was never a motion for him to read such an amendment.
The politician stated, “It’s amusing because I read the fake news, too, and a lot of people asked me whether I knew about such a plot.
He said that after agreeing to the governor’s proposal to designate 20 Special Advisers, the House adjourned its session until Monday, June 19, 2023.
The majority leader said that those disseminating such rumors were individuals who opposed state peace.
