Real Madrid: Favourite manager to replace Ancelotti revealed
It has been revealed who is expected to succeed Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid’s manager.
Xabi Alonso, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen, is apparently in frequent touch with the La Liga giants about a prospective managerial position in the near future and is thought to be the frontrunner to follow Ancelotti at Santiago Bernabeu, according to Relevo.
Alonso was a former Real Madrid midfielder who played in 236 games for Los Blancos and contributed 31 assists in addition to six goals.
The former Liverpool star left Real Madrid in 2014 to sign with Bayern Munich, where he later announced his retirement.
Before being named the head coach of Real Sociedad B for the upcoming season, the Spaniard oversaw Real Madrid’s youth team in the 2018–19 campaign.
Alonso’s deal with Bayer Leverkusen expires in 2024, and Ancelotti is apparently planning to finish out his time at Real Madrid before taking over as Brazil’s manager just in time for the 2024 Copa America.
