Miguel decided to leave his job as a police officer and worked briefly as a bodyguard. During this time, he met Pedro Aviles Perez, who later became his drug partner. After some time, they started to sell drugs full-time. Gallardo was known by the nicknames “The Godfather” or “El Padrino” and “The Boss of Bosses”. He was in charge of all drug trafficking operations involving hard substances in Mexico and some parts of Europe and the United States.
He established a lot of income sources and founded several new routes for peddling drugs to different parts of the country. Gallardo was eventually arrested in 1989 and was charged with several felonies and murders. He was pronounced guilty and received a jail term of 40 years.
