Barack Obama, the former president of the United States of America, has added songs by Nigerian artists Burna Boy and Ayra Starr on his playlist for the summer of 2023.
The list was revealed on Thursday night via the 44th American president’s Twitter account.
The only afrobeats tracks in the playlist were “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” by Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy, with American-based British rapper 21 Savage, and “Sability” by Ayra Starr.
Obama tweeted the playlist along with the following statement: “Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer – a mix of old and new. eagerly anticipate learning what I missed.
Wizkid, Tems, and Rema have reportedly appeared on President Obama’s playlists in the past, according to DAILY POST.
The summer playlist for the 2019 Barack Obama featured the song “Iron Man” from Rema’s debut EP, while the summer playlist for the 2021 Barack Obama featured the popular song “Essence” by Wizkid and Tems.
