Early detection of cancer would have saved Sound Sultan – 2Baba
The late singer and friend of legendary Nigerian artist Innocent Ujah Idibia, aka 2Baba, Sound Sultan, who passed away from throat cancer in 2021, may have lived if he had received an early diagnosis, according to 2Baba.
He claimed that when the singer of “Jagbajantis” was ill, doctors initially suspected malaria.
He also attributed the delayed diagnosis to the nation’s subpar healthcare system.
The seasoned performer made an appearance in the most recent Afrobeats podcast episode, which was hosted by British-Nigerian media personality Adesope Olajide, aka Shopsydoo.
“How was the relationship with Sound Sultan and how has that loss been for you?” the host enquired.
He [Sound Sultan] was one of the “goodest,” if I may use that term, according to 2Baba. He was among the “goodest” persons you could ever meet, comparable to an angel.
“I resisted accepting that truth for a very long time; it seemed absurd. The diagnosis arrived too late. We believed it to be malaria, and he had testing done in Nigeria. However, I don’t want to discuss that at all.
According to DAILY POST, Sound Sultan passed away in the United States on July 11, 2021, at the age of 44, not long after being identified as having throat cancer called angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.
