Frank urges Buhari to sack board, management of NDDC

Comrade Timi Frank, the former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to dismiss the Board and current management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) before taking over on May 19, 2023. Frank said this became necessary in light of accusations and counter accusations rocking the agency with a short period of their inception.

Frank stated in a statement he released on Monday that was made accessible to journalists that the infighting has brought back memories of the past, when corruption and infighting ultimately led to the derailment of the Commission’s overall performances.

He claims that the drama created by the board’s and management team’s existing members will result in underserving the Niger Delta’s population while benefitting some individuals personally.

He urged the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offenses, or ICPC, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, to intervene before it was too late.

Frank’s comments came against the backdrop of findings made by the Senate Ad-hoc Committee, which is currently looking into NDDC spending that was not authorized.

The activist stated that the board should be dismissed because they lack the fundamental qualifications to manage the business of the NDDC and their inability to adequately defend the 2021, 2022, and 2023 budgets is evidence of this.

He bemoaned what he called the “fresh dilemma of corruption,” stating that the charges and denials made by individuals in charge of the NDDC’s resources demonstrated that the local populace was unable to gain anything.

The timing of this exposé, when all hands are meant to be on deck to help birth a new NDDC, is extremely concerning and embarrassing.
