I never wanted to be famous – Ebuka Obi-Uchendu
Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, a well-known media figure, has called fame “a necessary evil that comes with having a career that is public.”
He emphasized that he does not take pleasure in being famous and that he has never sought popularity.
On the Channels TV program Rubbin’ Minds, which was co-hosted by reality stars Beauty Tukura and Prince Nelson, he made this claim.
While acknowledging the advantages of celebrity, Ebuka declared that, given the choice, he would prefer his work and the financial rewards over recognition.
I have never been a fan of celebrity, the father of two declared. And I believe you can tell if you know me. But I’ve also come to realize that it goes along with what I do.
“I never sought out fame. I’ve never sought stardom. I’ve never really kind of flourished there. I’m not the type of man to put stuff out there to be discussed. Therefore, if you hear me mentioned frequently, it’s probably because of my work. It’s not because I engaged in activity unrelated to my job.
“I don’t think I ever truly loved fame that much, much alone relished it. I mean, I can never argue against the fact that it has its advantages. But I also recognize that it is a necessary evil that goes along with having a public job.
But if you gave me the choice, I would choose the career with the associated income above becoming famous.
