May 29: Islamic cleric champions special Jumah prayers for Tinubu
All Imams and Alfas in the nation have been requested to pray for the new President, Bola Tinubu, at today’s Jumat prayer in order to prepare for the May 29 transition ceremony, according to the Wakeelu Muslimeen, SouthWest, Edo, and Delta States’ Sheikh Iskil Awwal.
On May 29, Tinubu would take the oath of office. His victory is currently being contested before the presidential election petition tribunal.
In the election on February 25, Tinubu defeated Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The priest explained that the prayer was vital for the country’s advancement and to enable a smooth transition from departing President Muhammadu Buhari to Tinubu in an interview with reporters on Thursday evening.
“I urge all Muslims to perform a special prayer on the day of Jumah for Nigeria, the President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Buhari, asking God to make Nigeria a better nation,” he stated.
No nation can withstand poverty and violence, according to Awwal. He urged clerics to pray for peace and advancement in Nigeria as well as for the incoming president.
The Muslim leader added that the nation-wide special prayer is to be offered for God’s consolation and plentiful blessings, particularly in the South-West States.
He insisted, urging all Imams and Alfas to organize a special prayer for the country to advance and create Nigeria a progressive nation. “We should pray that the tenure of Bola Ahmed Tinubu should bring peace to Nigeria,” he said.
