N22bn fraud: EFCC arrests ex-Power Minister, Sale Mamman
Sale Mamman, a former minister of power, was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on suspicion of defrauding the government of N22 billion.
Mamman, who served as the minister of electricity from 2019 to 2021, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning and held at the EFCC’s Abuja headquarters.
According to reports, his arrest is related to inquiries into possible wrongdoing in the management of various power projects.
The minister is accused of planning to siphon N22 billion and divide it among himself or herself with ministry employees in charge of the finances for the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects.
Millions of dollars and naira are alleged to have been recovered, and the investigations are supposed to have turned up assets in Nigeria and abroad linked to the accused.
