Oshoala makes history in Super Falcons victory against Australia
Asisat Oshoala scored in the Super Falcons’ 3-2 victory over Republic of Ireland on Thursday to become the first Super Falcons player to score in three straight World Cups.
After passing a last-minute fitness test, the forward for Barcelona Femeni entered the game in the 64th minute.
Oshoala scored the third goal for the Super Falcons in the thrilling game by taking advantage of shoddy defence by the co-hosts.
The other Super Falcons scorers in the contest were Uchenna Kanu and Osinachi Ohale.
At the 2015 World Cup, which was held in Canada, Oshoala scored her maiden World Cup goal for the Super Falcons in a 3-3 tie with Sweden.
In the 2-0 tie with South Korea four years ago, the 28-year-old also scored.
