Biography
Stella Okotete is a human rights activist, philanthropist, and active APC politician. She was appointed by His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on April 20, 2017, to be the Executive Director, Business Development of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM).
Stella Okotete has extensive experience in the formulation and execution of public policies, international development and general administration, the management of public-private partnerships, company development, and export finance.
Stella received a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Diplomacy from Benson Idahosa University in Benin City.

Career
She served as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) focal point in Delta State between 2011 and 2015, where she led the establishment and execution of programs with agency groupings to guarantee that the targets of the “United Nations Millennium Declaration” were met.
Hon. Stella briefly served as an elected councillor in Ughelli-North Local Government Area prior to being appointed as Special Assistance (SA) MDG in Delta State. This role allowed her to develop a deeper grasp of the socioeconomic concerns of marginalized groups.
She was able to use this information to make sure that the strategic intervention programs for the state’s Millennium Development Goals had a beneficial impact on the Local Government Area’s neglected neighbourhoods.
She has worked with internally displaced people at IDP Camps in Ughelli, Maiduguri, and Abuja and is heavily involved in volunteer work.
On April 20, 2017, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, named Hon. Stella Erhuvwuoghene Okotete as the Executive Director, Business Development of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM).
Her duties at NEXIM also include overseeing the business development division of the bank to ensure peak performance and providing operational leadership for the bank. She also conceptualizes and develops new products and services while also improving the ones that already exist.
Over time, she spearheaded initiatives for the Export Development Fund, including the “Women and Youth Export Facility” and the “Small and Medium Export Enterprise Facility.”
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda, which focuses on eradicating poverty, promoting economic stability, and promoting gender equality, and the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) of President Muhammadu Buhari, inspired her to create these products.
In accordance with the federal government’s diversification policies and programs, she is now creating export diversification measures to upscale the country’s non-oil export sector and improve foreign exchange revenues.
