They snubbed me, nominated skit makers I am better than – Nasboi berates AMVCA
Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji, better known by his stage name Nasboi, has criticized the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) organizers for failing to include him in the nominations for the ninth edition of the award’s Online Social Content Creator category.
According to the musician, he submitted a video for consideration but received no mention, despite skit producers below him receiving nominations.
He said this lately when appearing on TVC’s program, ESplash.
Nasboi claimed that he had a brighter professional outlook than most sketch creators and that even if he didn’t win the prize, he should at the very least be nominated.
You know, the AMVCA only started including us in the content makers category precisely two years ago, he remarked. When I wasn’t nominated the first time, I wasn’t very disappointed. But this time, if the AMVCA is looking, I deserved to be nominated.
My friend who was nominated in the first year told me, “Bro, We submitted [our videos to AMVCA for nomination consideration. Okay, that makes sense, I think. I can see why I was left out.
“But Nasboi was on fire in 2022, this one just passed. I deserved to be recognized. This is a modest boast. I was ablaze in 2022. I created excellent, humorous, and motivational stuff. Then, I sent [an AMVCA nomination video] for consideration. A video that is significantly superior to several of the entries that were nominated.
When I saw the nominees, you know. I anticipated being named. I’m alright even though I don’t succeed in winning. However, I just needed to be nominated because I was deserving of it.
