Transfer: Arteta has signed the next Van Persie – Sagna
Bacary Sagna, a former defender for Arsenal, thinks Kai Havertz has what it takes to become the team’s Robin van Persie of the future.
Havertz signed a £65 million deal to join the Gunners last month from London rivals Chelsea.
The 24-year-old played with the Blues for three years, displaying flashes of his talent, but has come under fire for his lack of goals and assists while playing in a variety of positions for several managers.
Sagna, however, has gushed about Havertz and drawn comparisons to Van Persie.
“Kai Havertz played well in the number nine, especially against big defenders,” Sagna stated in a statement to Paddy Power. He’s a shrewd player, so he won’t suffer physically as I had anticipated.
He uses his physique similarly to Robin van Persie, can cross, and has excellent technique. He had a chance to score but instead produced a lot of chances, which is good.
