Impersonation: Peter Okoye threatens lawsuit against Polaris, Access banks
Mr. P, a well-known online character and artist from Nigeria, has threatened legal action against Access and Polaris banks.
Last year, Okoye called out about how online con artists were using his identity to defraud others.
According to DAILY POST, the artist has been operating a lottery program under his name, and online scammers have also been committing fraud under the same name.
On Wednesday, Okoye vented his annoyance on his Instagram page and his official X account, asking why banks would permit someone to register an account in his name without verification.
The musician exposed the banks through photos, vowed to expose additional banks, and threatened to sue them for damages.
“Enough is enough,” he tweeted. Either it’s an inside job or not. In order to preserve any of these helpless victims, I must safeguard an identity. Prepare yourself for me and my legal team now.
“How can @polarisbankltd and @myaccessbank allow someone to open an account in the name of “PETER OKOYE PSQUARE” without a legitimate form of identity, such as a BVN, biometrics, a verified address, or even a utility bill that matches the account owner’s address? They are currently defrauding unsuspecting individuals by using my name. I’m suing this bank for damages. Take notice, @officialefcc.
