May 29: Corrupt governors, other politicians planning to flee Nigeria – EFCC alerts
Ahead of the May 29 transfer, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly made plans for several governors and other politicians who are suspected of corruption to leave the country.
The alarm was raised by EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren in a statement released on Friday night.
According to the commission, it is currently working with its foreign allies to thwart the plans.
All political figures who engaged in corruption while holding public office would be prosecuted, the commission said.
Part of the statement is summarized as follows: “Once more, the Commission wishes to draw public attention to plans by some of the accused corrupt politically exposed persons to leave the country before to May 29.
The Commission is collaborating closely with its foreign allies to thwart these escape attempts and bring those responsible to justice.
