Trauma of losing my mum, dad, friend made me start music – Niyola

Niyola, a well-known stage name for Nigerian singer-songwriter Eniola Akinbo, claims she entered the music industry “accidentally.”

She said that the grief of losing the three people who meant the most to her—her mother, father, and a very close friend—led to her beginning to sing.

This was revealed by the former Banky W signee during a conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

She said that she had no desire to become famous.

Niyola claimed, “I accidentally fell into music as a career. Pain was felt. It was a defeat. Gain was made.

“Three extremely significant persons in my life passed away. A very close friend of mine passed away. My mother died. I then lost my father.

She said that quitting EME, the record company run by Banky W, wasn’t a “happy ending.”

Niyola, however, claimed that leaving the label provided her the chance to start again.
